Just a quick update
for literally the 10 of you who follow this…
- countdown: 22 days (my lucky number)
- marriage license acquired. not nearly as fancy or official looking as you would think.
- replacement hair stylist acquired. thank god. hair trial with her Monday night.
- Nail appointments made. Now, what color? Thoughts? Toes can be more splashy, but I figure fingers should be classy. Maybe a champagne color.
- Shoes broken in. Back up flip flops acquired.
- Dress alternation done. Pick up dress 8 days before the wedding, so let’s all hope it fits correctly.
- All RSVPS in (except one, but we’re just gonna say she’s coming and use it as a buffer). Doing seating and cabin arrangements this weekend. Give me your requests now or forever hold your peace.
I guess it’s really happening…
Saturday: First (and hopefully last) dress fitting
Sunday: final meeting with wedding venue coordinator
Monday: Applying for marriage license!

Fun wedding gift idea
So I turned to my big stack of wedding magazines to look for more inclusive advertising and coverage of same-sex couples in the content. I flipped. And flipped. And flipped. Until I got to the bottom of my stack. And across ten magazines I didn’t see a single. gay. couple.
So I went back to the top of the stack. This time, I counted straight couples. Just to provide some context for the erasure of gay couples in wedding magazines. In ten magazines there were 674 straight couples depicted. 674 straight couples, 0 gay couples. There were more pictures of horses (8 horses across five different magazines) than of gay people in love.
